It’s a paraphrase of one of the many conversations we jokingly have in our AI filmmakers group. Throughout the week, and sometimes even within a day, loads of new tools or updates pop up. And it’s just a small slice of the AI world.

The dynamics of AI tool development have been characterized by an unprecedented pace since their inception. Since the public release of ChatGPT in November 2022, nearly 10 major global models have emerged. Not to mention the plethora of open-source models. Then there are models exclusively for graphics and videos, which have seen the fastest development over the past year. A year ago, when I was conducting a market analysis for a client, I just couldn’t count on spectacular video effects. But right after that, Luma came along, allowing for frame-by-frame video generation. Since then, the market has seen models as powerful as Veo and Kling. Heck, while writing this article, Seedance made its debut. Newer versions obviously mean greater capabilities and higher quality. That’s why we all try to keep up.
