Artificial intelligence gaining traction
Over a year ago, an idea was born of a defensive shield supported by AI algorithms for Polish railway tracks. This is the result of the collaboration between the Railway Protection Guard and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). Cameras and sensors are meant to monitor railroad crossings 24/7 and analyze images in real time. In case of detecting a threat, e.g. a vehicle blocking the railway track, the system will be able to immediately alert the appropriate services, enabling quick preventive actions.
s well as enhancing the current security, AI can also prevent many breakdowns. By analyzing both historical and the latest data, systems can identify infrastructure elements that need fixing even before they break. This, in turn, helps minimize downtime and maintenance costs.
