🔒 Are autonomous vehicles ready to take over the roads?

Aurora and Waymo are intensifying their tests and service development, but the transportation industry and society are still asking crucial questions: is technology really matching human judgment? And what if it isn’t?

A decade ago, we only talked about these self-driving cars as a futuristic sight that we could watch on sci-fi films and series, or eventually test under controlled conditions. Today — at least in some areas of the United States — we can find them on the roads. Two companies are taking the lead on the American highways: Aurora, which is developing self-driving trucks, and Waymo, which offers robotaxis. However, both companies are facing some resistance.

Aurora: change of path, same goal

Aurora announced some changes in the tests of pilotless trucks between Dallas and Houston. The safety observer, who previously sat at the back of the cab, has been moved to the front seat.
