According to Bloomberg’s findings, Apple is on the verge of signing a billion-dollar deal with Google, where the new version of Siri will be powered by the Gemini model. The contract is valued at about $1 billion a year. For Apple, this is a technological boost meant to catch up on years of AI delays, while for Google, it’s another step that strengthens its position as a provider of key AI infrastructure.
Gemini behind Siri’s mask
The new Siri is set to debut with the next iOS update in spring 2026. At its core will be the custom Gemini model, boasting a massive scale of 1.2 trillion parameters — almost eight times larger than the current Apple Intelligence models. This engine is designed to handle the assistant’s most complex functions like understanding context, summarizing information, planning tasks and managing multi-stage conversations.
