Comet is a web browser with an integrated sidebar that serves as an AI assistant. It’s designed to analyze the content of the pages in real-time. You can ask questions about the website, request summaries and even delegate tasks related to navigation and content management, including handling the page on your behalf. This mechanism aims to speed up the process of searching for and processing information without having to leave the current page.

Limited availability and testing phase

Before it was made public, access to Comet was strictly limited. Over the last few months, only subscribers of the Perplexity Max plan could use it. Other interested users had to join the official waiting list or receive a direct invitation from someone who already had access, but each early user had a limited number of invites. According to Perplexity, millions of potential users gathered on the list during this period, which allowed the company to collect feedback.
