🔒 Alibaba speeds up toward AI. “Development exceeds expectations”

The Chinese e-commerce giant showed again at its annual conference in Beijing that it’s betting on artificial intelligence. The highlight of the program was the official debut of Qwen3-Max and the announcement of a major acceleration in data center development.

The scale of Alibaba’s new model is impressive — it includes over a trillion parameters, putting it right up there with the world’s best. As Alibaba Cloud CTO Zhou Jingren pointed out, Qwen3-Max stands out primarily in two areas: code generation and autonomous agent functions.

According to initial benchmark results (e.g., Tau2-Bench), Qwen3-Max has outperformed some competing solutions in some categories, including Anthropic’s Claude and DeepSeek-V3.1. If these results hold up in independent tests, Alibaba might gain a strong edge in the race against Google, Microsoft and OpenAI.
