While the previous version focused on simple edits and playful design, the Pro variant emphasizes the precision essential for creative and studio work. The new model leverages the Gemini 3 inference capabilities and access to real-time world knowledge.

Data visualization and readable text

So far, typography had been one of the biggest challenges for image generators. Nano Banana Pro handles text rendering way better than its predecessors. Users can create graphics with legible text — from short advertising slogans to longer paragraphs. The model supports multiple languages, allowing for example to translate labels on products while keeping the original graphic style (e.g., from English to Korean).

A key new feature is its integration with the Google search engine. The model can visualize information streaming live. This allows it to create up-to-date weather infographics, sports charts or tutorials (e.g., a recipe for cardamom tea) based on real data, rather than just the model’s hallucinations.

Control over style and consistency

For people whose work involves designing, consistency is key. Nano Banana Pro allows you to combine up to 14 input images while maintaining character and style coherence. This means you can create a series of shots for a storyboard or fashion session where the characters and their outfits look the same in every frame, with only poses and perspectives changing.

Google has also put more advanced “studio” control tools into the hands of creators. You can modify specific parts of an image, the camera angle, the depth of field (e.g., sharpening flowers in the foreground) and the lighting. Users can switch the time of day in a photo from day to night or add a chiaroscuro effect, all while keeping the original features of the characters’ faces intact.

Availability and implementations

The model is being implemented across various Google services, tailored to different target groups:

Individual users: They can use the model in the Gemini app (the “Thinking” option). There’s a free version with limits, and once those are maxed out, the system switches to the basic Nano Banana model. Subscribers to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra get higher limits.

Companies and professionals: The model is now available on Google Ads, Workspace (Slides, Vids), and for developers through Gemini API and Google AI Studio.

Creators: Ultra subscribers will get access to video tools (Flow) with enhanced scene control precision.

Content verification and SynthID

With its new model, Google is really emphasizing transparency. All images created by the company’s tools are to include an invisible watermark called SynthID. Also, the Gemini app will now feature a verification function — after uploading a file, you can ask the bot, “Was this image generated by Google AI?” to get the appropriate info.

Additionally, a visual distinction has been introduced:

Images created by free users and Pro subscribers will be marked with a visible watermark (a spark).

Materials created by Ultra subscribers and developers in AI Studio will come without any visible markings, ensuring a clean image for professional use.

Google is also implementing C2PA standard-compliant metadata, allowing to verify the image’s origin even outside the Google ecosystem. The company has announced that soon, SynthID verification will also cover audio and video materials.

What does that look like in practice? Let’s check it out

The producer’s promises aren’t always in line with reality, so I decided to check it out myself.

When it comes to generating text, Gemini does a really good job. The captions on graphics are clear and the model accurately follows typography instructions.

Sample infographic created by Nano Banana Pro

Sample infographic created by Nano Banana Pro

The integration test with real-time data also went pretty well. I asked the model to create a specific task: “Create a current weather infographic for Warsaw: temperature, humidity, cloud cover, and highly readable weather icons. Use real-time data.” The outcome was satisfying. I got quite an aesthetic graphic with accurate weather data, although it did jump a bit into the future — I conducted the test at 6:14 PM, but the infographic shows 6:30 PM.

Graph showing weather data fetched in real-time by Gemini

However, the AI image recognition feature generates mixed feelings.
