Keep that in mind before you start building your first agent.

Here are four things that you should really know:

1. Lack of freedom to choose models

Agent Builder only works with OpenAI models. You can’t switch the engine to Claude, Gemini or Llama.

It’s like a car where the manufacturer insists you can only refuel at their stations. It might seem convenient… until you end up paying more or find yourself in a place where there are no such stations.

2. Dependence on OpenAI servers

There’s no option for self-hosting. Everything runs on OpenAI’s infrastructure.

It’s like buying an apartment where the previous owner still has the keys.
It’s hard to feel at home — especially if you’re storing sensitive data.

3. Lack of real triggers or APIs

Agent Builder mainly launches through chat. It doesn’t support webhooks, emails or external integrations — basically, you can’t call an API.

It’s like a smart assistant that only responds when you talk to it.
It won’t call first, pick up an email or react to an event — so where’s the automation really?

4. Few tools and integrations

While platforms like Make or n8n offer hundreds of ready-to-use integrations, Agent Builder only provides a few tools from OpenAI.

It’s like a workshop with just one screwdriver and a hammer.
You can build something, but you’re more likely to fix a toy than assemble a full-fledged machine.

But… there’s an advantage too

We’re talking about OpenAI, so the topic of AI agents will reach millions of people.
For many, Agent Builder will be the first step into the world of automation.
And every such step is a boost for the entire market. The more tools available, the greater the awareness, and the easier it will be to find solutions that really work.

After two days of testing the OpenAI Agent Builder, I have one impression: it’s not a tool for automation, but more like a sandbox to showcase the capabilities of the GPT model created by OpenAI.

[803
829

36
970
post-15694","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-it-and-technology","tag-openai-2","difficulty-level-easy
"url2x":"https://haimagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/A.Gorski_campusAI_1.png
Założyciel i CEO DistrictORG Inc. – holdingu technologicznego stojącego za CampusAI, Human+AI Institute, H+AI Media Collective, DistrictORG i innymi projektami.
Członek komitetu sterującego Baltic AI Gigafactory.
["GET
