The scale of Alibaba’s new model is impressive \u2014 it includes over a trillion parameters, putting it right up there with the world’s best. As Alibaba Cloud CTO Zhou Jingren pointed out, Qwen3-Max stands out primarily in two areas: code generation and autonomous agent functions.<\/p>
According to initial benchmark results (e.g., Tau2-Bench), Qwen3-Max has outperformed some competing solutions in some categories, including Anthropic’s Claude and DeepSeek-V3.1. If these results hold up in independent tests, Alibaba might gain a strong edge in the race against Google, Microsoft and OpenAI.<\/p>
But that’s not the only novelty. The company has also introduced Qwen3-Omni \u2014 a multimodal system designed to work in virtual and augmented reality environments. It can be used in smart glasses or car cockpits, among other applications.<\/p>
However, the power of these models requires infrastructure. That’s why Alibaba announced the launch of its first-ever data centers in Brazil, France and the Netherlands, and next year also in Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Dubai.<\/p>
These locations are strategically important \u2014 they cover key markets in Latin America, Europe and Asia, as well as an important hub in the Middle East. The new facilities will complement the existing network of 91 areas in 29 regions around the world. It’s a move that will allow the company to shorten system response times, ensure compliance with data localization regulations, and better compete against AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.<\/p>
