Subsequent decades brought groundbreaking productions: <em>Tron<\/em> (1982), where computer animation became a key visual element, as well as <em>Jurassic Park<\/em> (1993) and <em>Toy Story<\/em> (1995), which proved that entire worlds could be created on a computer. Today, films like <em>Avatar<\/em>, <em>Blade Runner 2049<\/em> or <em>Dune<\/em> showcase an unprecedented level of photorealism, thanks to the power of AI-enhanced 3D modeling.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How is AI revolutionizing 3D modeling?<\/strong><\/h4><p>AI assists in generating realistic gaming environments such as <em>Minecraft<\/em>, <em>GTA V<\/em> and <em>Fortnite<\/em>, enables quick visualizations of buildings and simulations of structures in architecture, as well as being applied when testing the aerodynamics of Tesla vehicles. In medicine, it allows to precisely replicate organs and tissues, supporting surgeons in planning surgeries and contributing to the development of prosthetics and implants. It&#8217;s also a powerful tool for artists and designers\u2014from digital jewelry to 3D printed sculptures or experimental fashion collections, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nylon.com\/life\/grimes-shinigami-eyes-asher-levine-designer-interview\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nylon.com\/life\/grimes-shinigami-eyes-asher-levine-designer-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:#82D65E\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">Grimes&#8217; stage costume<\/mark><\/a>, which was created entirely with 3D printing technology.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When AI designs better than a human<\/strong><\/h4><p>AI not only creates models, but also automates and optimizes key processing stages. Algorithms can independently generate and apply textures, eliminating the need to manually match them to the model&#8217;s surface. This allows graphic artists and designers to focus on the creative aspects of their work, instead of wasting time on tedious technical tasks.<\/p><p>Artificial intelligence also supports transforming 2D images into full 3D models\u2014just a photo, scan or sketch is needed for the system to recreate the object in three-dimensional space. Such solutions are applied not only in the gaming and film industries, but also in medicine, for instance, for rapidly generating precise anatomical models of patients&#8217; organs and tissues based on MRI scans or computed tomography.<\/p><p>AI-assisted 3D printing allows to automate the manufacturing process to even a greater extent. Algorithms help accurately place layers of material, optimize the structure of models and simulate the behavior of printed elements under real conditions. In medicine, this enables the creation of personalized prosthetics, implants and biodegradable tissue structures that perfectly replicate the patient&#8217;s anatomy.<\/p><p>AI also allows to optimize models in terms of performance and material usage. Algorithms minimize the number of polygons (while preserving key details), which is extremely important in game development, VR and 3D printing\u2014lower complexity means faster production processes and reduced costs. An example? General Electric uses AI to optimize models of aircraft components, reducing the weight of parts by up to 30%, which translates into lower fuel consumption and reduced production costs.
