If you ask anyone in the consumer electronics industry about the most important event of the year, they’ll point you to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) without hesitation \u2013 a conference held every January in Las Vegas. That’s when producers from all over the world come together to show each other that they are setting the trends in innovation. The year 2025 is when artificial intelligence \u2013 already a staple at this conference for years \u2013 moves beyond the realm of concepts and prototypes and becomes an integral part of useful products. <\/p>

This year, the loudest buzz was about NVIDIA, one of theworld’s largest manufacturers of processors and graphics cards. Their CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, decided to strongly emphasize the presence of one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI revolution. He introduced the new GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards, which many creators had been waiting for. However, Project DIGITS \u2013 a supercomputer the size of a Mac Mini, turned out to be the real sensation. It allows you to run language models with up to 200 billion parameters without massive infrastructure or cloud resources. The product costs $3k, so even small businesses or individual users can afford it. Until now, they were forced to either rent computing power in the cloud or invest in expensive GPU clusters, which constituted a barrier for many innovative projects.<\/p>

Samsung’s motto for CES 2025 “AI for All”<\/strong> clearly shows what the electronics giant is focusing on the most. The revolutionary AI Hybrid Cooling technology <\/strong>introduced by this company controls the temperature in refrigerators based on the habits of household members. On the other hand, Bespoke washers and dryers automatically select the program, amount of water and detergents based on the weight and fabric of the clothes. <\/p>

Hisense<\/strong>, a Chinese manufacturer of consumer electronics and home appliances, is introducing AI-based recipes that consider users’ allergies and dietary preferences. The South Korean company LG is not falling behind \u2013 the TVs they showcased with AI support adjust HDR and brightness for each program or movie, and also transform stereo sound into surround. <\/p>

It seems we’re at the end of an era where adding the abbreviation “AI” to the name of consumer electronics and appliances meant having barely useful features in an app. Now, artificial intelligence is starting to bring real benefits in everyday life. <\/p>

Cars like from sci-fi movies<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>

CES is the perfect venue for showcasing the wildest prototypes, and few have as much to say here as automotive startups. One of such products is Aptera <\/strong>\u2013 a two-seater, three-wheeled vehicle covered with solar panels. Using only this energy source, it can travel about 64 km a day. After an additional charge from a socket, it increases the range to 640 km. Unfortunately, the start-up is from sunny California \u2013 considering the weather conditions in most of Europe, the range achieved thanks to the power of the panels will likely be smaller. <\/p>

CES without a flying car is not CES. Xpeng AeroHT<\/strong> was one of the most viewed products. It’s a flying electric vehicle that’s set to open up the skies for us. Additionally, it can hide within 5 minutes inside an electric van \u2013 also produced by this Chinese start-up. Stuck in traffic on the highway? Drive down to the parking bay in your van, and after a while, fly away in your mini-helicopter. Is this the future that awaits us in a few decades? I’d really like to, although the vision of exploring the skies without limits (and proper regulations) promoted by the manufacturer might seem a bit too radical. <\/p>

It’s worth noting that NVIDIA has announced the DRIVE<\/strong> platform for autonomous vehicles. This is meant to be a comprehensive platform with a complete set of autonomous features \u2013 from sensors and safety systems to the operating system itself. Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover, and Volvo are among the companies planning its implementation. The collaboration of these manufacturers with NVIDIA could speed up the work on autonomous driving, which has been facing serious challenges for some time. <\/p>

Robots, robots, robots<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>

CES always means robots. This year, manufacturers didn’t disappoint and showcased several really interesting concepts. Roborock unveiled Saros<\/strong>, a new line of vacuum robots equipped with a robotic arm.If the robot comes across a stray sock, it will pick it up and transport it to a designated place. The maximum weight of the object being lifted is 300 g, and over time, the list of supported items \u2013currently short\u2013 is expected to expand. No more cleaning the house before the robot does it! <\/p>

Glide<\/strong> from Glidance is another robot that has won the hearts of participants. This is an autonomous cane for blind and visually impaired individuals that automatically guides the user, avoids obstacles, and sticks to a safe route. “The right to mobility for everyone, regardless of their vision level” \u2013 that’s the manufacturer’s motto. Such use of tools related to route planning and computer vision<\/em> commands the utmost respect. <\/p>

At the trade show, the previously mentioned NVIDIA also presented Cosmos<\/strong> \u2013 an advanced platform designed to accelerate the development of physical artificial intelligence, including robotics and autonomous vehicles. Cosmos offers models that enable the creation of massive amounts of photorealistic synthetic data. This data is used for training and assessing existing AI models, which significantly cuts down on the costs and time needed to develop such systems. The platform has been released under an open-source license, which aims to democratize access to advanced AI tools and bring us closer to the time when robots will become commonplace in our homes. <\/p>

To your health!<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>

Artificial intelligence also involves extensive activities in the health sector. The last conference was not short on such solutions. <\/p>

The list is topped by Eli Health, the winner of the CES award for the best innovation in the Digital Health category. The Hormometer<\/strong> presented by this company allows for the measurement of hormone levels in saliva using a smartphone. To conduct the test, place a thin strip in your mouth for 60 seconds. The Eli app analyzes the sample and provides personalized information about your hormone levels. Right now, the tool is conducting tests on cortisol and progesterone, and in the future, it will start measuring testosterone and estradiol. Ultimately, everything is supposed to take place in the comfort of your home, but sign-ups for the initial device tests are just getting started. <\/p>

What’s next?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h4>

These are just a few of the ideas that were presented during this four-day conference. There were about 4500 exhibitors, each probably convinced that their solution could change the world. Even if the percentage of prototypes displayed that make it to the production phase is quite small, these trade shows are worth following anyway, as the ideas presented here could change our lives in the coming years. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
